We are seeking a professional Manufacturing Plant Manager to support the rapid expansion of our business and strengthen our busy manufacturing facilities. The role is a new opening which has come about due to the continuing progression of Xtrac.
The person appointed will play a fundamental part in the manufacturing of our innovative transmission systems used by the World’s top racing teams including Formula 1, IndyCar, Sportscar and Rally. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the management of a full shift operation including the health, safety and welfare of all employees, third party contractors and site visitors as well complying with all standards and legislation. You will meet and exceed (where possible) performance metrics for operational effectiveness, you will develop fast connected flow across the plant by optimising the constraint and interactive bottlenecks within a Theory of Constraints (TOC) and Drum Buffer Rope (DBR) environment. Management responsibilities will include: improving employee relations by participating in shop floor cross functional improvement activities, deputising for the Head of Manufacturing when required and to manage direct reports by carrying out annual performance reviews, identifying training needs, agreeing development plans and managing attendance for 5 direct reports. Alongside recruiting and inducting new members of the manufacturing team by working with the HR department. The Manufacturing Plant Manager will be required to work closely with production planners and business managers, identify and eliminate historical practices that can impact the financial well-being of the plant, identify, propose and implement opportunities for business improvements.
We are seeking an individual who has proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development. The individual should have previous awareness of the production and manufacturing environment. A confident communicator who has strong planning, project management and influential skills to be able to effectively lead multifunctional teams and deliver projects within defined and agreed times.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a science or engineering based principle and will have a solid understanding of manufacturing principles. Strong IT systems knowledge including Microsoft Excel, Word and Projects is advantageous. Combined with an understanding of Engineering drawings, transmission components and manufacturing systems.
